CIAD Hosting's Network and Connectivity
CIAD Hosting's has made special arrangements to have our hosting infrastructure directly connected with a single hop to a backbone OC-192 (10Gbps) Internet router in a major Tier-1 hub data center of one of the largest Network Operators worldwide. CIAD Hosting's full 100Mbps connectivity is non-blocking, which means no network device is over-committed between CIAD Hosting's infrastructure and the OC-192 Internet backbone.
Other hosting providers typically will have only 10Mbps connectivity to the bottom of a large heirarchy of routers and switches before reaching the actual Internet backbone. Many of these devices in the heirarchy are over-committed to save costs, which runs the risk of network congestion. Typically switches in the heirarchy will have 24 or 48 imput 100Mbps lines and 1 output 100Mbps line. Do the math . . . any one connection that peaks with full 100Mbps usage causes congestion for all the other lines.
